Why? Eddie couldn't have known back then that CM Punk was a low-key addict who already had a bunch of pills in his system when Eddie ribbed him with that fruit punch spiked with alcohol. I mean, in our timeline it's was obvious by 2021 that CM Punk is full of shit and at least does meth, but how would Eddie have known that in the 00's with all the straight-edge posturing?
