It is a company that arguably never should have even been created from a purely business standpoint. WWE clearly has this relatively niche market cornered in the same way the NFL does for football, NBA for basketball, etc.
So you better be offering either a really amazing product that can compete (ala WCW in mid-90s) or just be satisfied with creating a niche within a niche market. Tony Khan doing the whole "MUH WAR" thing was cringe and he clearly wasn't prepared to REALLY challenge WWE. And from WWE's perspective, how should they take it when this little pipsqueak tells you he's trying to put you out of business with his daddy's money. WWE is unironically the good guy in this scenario.
