Russo is telling friends he was fearful that Goldberg was going to attack him at the July 24 booking meeting. Russo is claiming that when he informed Goldberg that he had booked him to job to Booker T, Goldberg became incensed and started clenching his fists. Russo is also claiming that he had to talk to Goldberg for two hours while trying to convince him that putting over Booker was best for the company. As a compromise, Russo claims he added the backstage scene in which Goldberg threw Stevie Ray through a window.

Russo and Goldberg had a meeting on 8/2 with Brad Siegel. The gist of the meeting, is that Russo told Goldberg that Nash would be winning the three-way to get a shot at title on the September PPV in Buffalo, by pinning Steiner, but that Steiner would pin Goldberg on the Buffalo show. Goldberg basically refused and his position in the company long-term is considered tenuous. Goldberg has been painted in the circles of the wrestlers as a prima donna who won't do jobs or business, particularly by those closest to Russo and Johnny Ace. Those close to Goldberg say he has no problem putting people over, but wants to know the long-term plans for the company, where it's going and wants to do angles that have continuity and make sense.
Nash then did a supposed shoot interview, talking about when he was a bouncer, he kicked NFL players out of clubs. He then talked about the one time he wasn't professional in the ring, a story about Pierre Oulette. It was a totally true story, although it was lost on literally all but about ten people in the world. When Nash was WWF champ, Oulette refused to do a job in Montreal because it was his home town and it was a real big deal at the time and Oulette got in the major doghouse over it. The next night in Quebec City, Nash put a hurting on him and pinned him clean. Problem is, nobody knows the story, and to the people at home listening, they probably thought Nash had a few too many.
