After leaving WCW in the summer of 1990, Fatu and Savage worked for several independent promotions in the US, Europe, Puerto Rico and Japan, often teaming with cousinKokina Maximus.[12]
The three worked for theUniversal Wrestling Associationin 1991, where they won the UWA Trios Tag Team Championship and held it for just under two months.[13]
They headlined the UWA's 16th anniversary show, losing the title toDos Caras,El Canek, andMil Máscaras.[14
