I've followed him for a while loosly since 2015 or 16 and following him on social media he's always had a air of arrogance where he sees himself as better than the 'sheeple'. This in all fairness is likely because he grew up in a deeply religious christian borderline cult household but that's something you'd have to KNOW to understand.
He's more than capable of being a spooky black metal guy but his promo's and overall package just flies over most peoples heads. Take pic related as an example. Pair that with his loud droning black metal track which is a deeply acquired taste as his entrance music and the entire character he presents veers far too close into unintelligable for the majority of people in an arena to pour their energy into. In fact his gimmick actively repels energy. Almost as if he WANTS to not be understood.
It's been easy for wrestlers to say that all they needed to get over was creative freedom but now that an alternative has cropped up that provides them with it many wrestlers like Black have been exposed as just not having it.
