>>5584507Someone told me once that my problem with NJPW might've just been that I didn't follow the feuds and just tried to watch the big matches. I tried watching a G1 tournament but I dunno a round robin tournament just seems like such a bad format for wrestling. I tried watching one of the big Kenny v Okada matches too and it was like an hour long and ended in a draw, which was really annoying to me.
I think overall I just don't really like the emphasis they place on the Wrestling As A Martial Art thing, I think there's too much like...no-selling shoulderblocks and arm drags and stuff, because it looks "technical." Someone told me old AJPW at least put a bigger emphasis on flashy moves and slams and stuff, which is way more my speed. Maybe I'm just a plebe.
I really just love stuff that looks like "wrestling," though, even if it's not a piledriver or a pumphandle or something really exotic. My favorite move in all of wrestling is probably Baba's coconut crusher, and I don't think I could even tell you why.
