Back in it's carnival infancy, professional wrestling rings were made out of simpler more readily available materials. Such is the case that the turnbuckles we all know and love were actually called Cornbuckles, as they were originally made out of corn husk and filled with leftover carnival popcorn to soften any cornbuckle bump most wrestlers take during the practice of our beloved sport. With the advent of new age materials, Cornbuckles began to quickly become outdated and eventually phased out by the coming of the turnbuckle, now padded with state of the art materials like soft polyurethane and covered with an infinite amount of different materials to cover the wrestling necessities of hundreds of wrestling federations worldwide
