I honestly haven't watched Summerslam or read any spoilers yet. I haven't watched a weekly show in years. This is the way to do it. It's not healthy to be obsessed, and you shouldn't be accepting subpar or outright bad weekly product from any company. You didn't fall in love with wrestling because of the filler matches goddammit.
It's very common and it happens in anime fandoms as well. I don't identify as an "anime fan", because the mass produced slop isn't what hooked me. I'm a "Cowboy Bebop fan" and a "Serial Experiments Lain fan". But to be an "anime fan" is to accept all of the mediocrity that orbits around the greatness.
I'm not a "westling fan", I'm an "Asuka vs Lynch Royal Rumble 2019 fan". I'm not a "WWE fan", I'm a "Survivor Series 1989" fan.
Like the matches you like but there's no good reason to be watching so many hours of wresting on a regular basis. Binging a show is supposed to be an accident, not something you plan to do every week for the rest of your life.
This doesn't apply to tournament viewers. There's a clear end date to a tournament where you can return to normal life. Nothing wrong with checking out every seed in a tournament and making a weekend out of it or whatever. G1 isn't an all year thing.
