then hogan is the #1 contentder for the belt even though he was #3 in the rumble. he gets a title shot with flair
then the flair hogan match gets canceled due to hogan refusing to put over flair on hogans way out since hogan at the time was "retiring" during the steroid scandle.
so we end up getting a weird sid heel turn and hogan for some fucking reason decides to sacrifice his title opportunity to have a match with sid instead. its absolute schizo booking
