>>12171296As for Kenny Omega, Cody Rhodes, and the Young Bucks (the EVPs), I think the original outlook for AEW was the old establishing the company but building up the younger talent or people who did fit the ideal or model of what a wrestler is. In that regard, AEW was very much like ECW and an early TNA. Fresh new acts, fresh young talent, and fresh ideas with blended different sensibilities were some of the key things with AEW great. However, AEW, or rather, Tony Khan, fell into the same trap as WCW and TNA, grabbing WWE's sloppy seconds and presenting them as huge deals. To be fair, this really ramped up in 2022, when TK baffling decided to bring in a bunch of NXT talent who had lost his OGs and then decided to put that NXT talent over his OGs? Booker of the year, ladies and gentlemen. It's a pity, but it's not all negative. Phil is gone (though Find the Remote still infects our TVs), the storytelling is becoming multifaceted with different characters making for a genuinely engaging main event scene, and Chrisitan is doing God's work taking the TNT belt (which had been killed by TK) and making it worth a shit. There are still issues, but at least things seem to be correcting themselves. 2022 was a dark, dark year for AEW and the first half of 2023 wasn't great either. But, things are improving, and with Phil gone and Fist the Rectum being reigned in, I'm hoping that 2024 will see AEW return to form.
