Tonight at a house show in Toronto a very drunk guy began yelling racist crap at Omos. He didn’t stop and I yelled at him to “shut the fuck up”. He was all like “what did you say? shut the fuck up? what did you say?” and the people behind him also told him to stop and to stop getting up and obstructing their view. It eventually de-escalated because I brought it to the attention of an usher (there was hardly any security present in the immediate area). Eventually he passed out and he was escorted out because I notified an usher about what was happening.
I am fed up. I can’t go to a wrestling show without some dumbass trying to put themselves over or yell out racist crap at a wrestler. If I don’t say anything they continue their racist diatribe, but then when I, a woman and POC, say something I become a target. All I want to do is enjoy a show without having to ask security to step in/do their job or put up with obnoxious behaviour.
So, how can we put an end to people yelling out racist stuff? Can we all collectively shame them, please? I don’t know how it got so bad.
