After he lost the TNT title in September 2021, his only programmes were to lose in the final of the AEW World Championship eliminator tournament in November 2021, lose in the final of the all-Atlantic title tournament (in a 4-way) in June 2022 and then a random 6-man match at All Out. Losing in another title tournament after that probably wasn't that appealing, especially as his TNT title run was so well received. He probably thinks he deserves a decent push, not just brought to TV twice a year to lose a tournament match.
