The more shows you add, the more belts you need - with the caveat that you only need as many belts that you can allocate time to make important and relative to the size of your ACTIVE and seen every week - roster.
A championship on a wrestler is a sign that they are trusted by the booker and management to conduct in a manner that's beneficial to the company, draw people in, get fans riled up for heat or cheer, move merch have good enough matches that it doesn't bury the company, get ratings or any combination of those - the more the better.
But even more so it's a reason for them to have a match and for the show to exist.
Ultimately a title is a MacGuffin, an object and reason for conflict in a story, not a backstage/entrance ramp shoulder warmer or a "collect them all" - set like some self-marks seem to think.
