>[Stardom] Saya Kamitani suddenly declared the Phoenix Splash sealed: "Two ligaments were torn."
>Behind the decision--. Saya Kamitani (23) of women's pro wrestling "Stardom" suddenly declared that her synonymous "Phoenix Splash" was sealed.
>At the Yokohama BUNTAI event on April 27, Kamitani, Saya Iida, and Fukigen Death will clash with High Speed Champion Saki Kashima in a 4-way title match as challengers. This is the first time for Kamitani to challenge for this title, but it is unusual for the holder of the record for the most consecutive defenses of the Wonder Title "V15" to challenge. High Speed is a new challenge for me. For this new challenge, and after thinking about my future wrestling life, I decided to seal off the Phoenix Splash with determination," she said, revealing her decision.
>It was a difficult decision. During her time as Wonder Champion, she made numerous defenses with the same move. However, in November 2022, she unleashed a phoenix bullet that hit challenger Mina Shirakawa in the jaw during their V10 match, causing her to be sidelined for two months, and after that she went on a defense road while fighting her fear of stepping into the ring.
>In April 2023, she was challenged again by Shirakawa, who performed the same move for the first time in about five months, but lost. She fell from the title and never used her special move again. In fact, she injured her shoulder while practicing the Phoenix Splash in preparation for her match with Shirakawa. She said, "My shoulder was cracked, and I had to taped it up for the match. So I was flying with determination for the title match," she recalled.
>After that, she continued to fight while covering up with taping, but dislocated her left elbow in the opening round of the "5STAR GP" last July, forcing her to miss four months of competition.
