Some people literally can't function if things don't make sense and they'll mentally spiral trying to forcibly connect dots that will never connect. It's a kind of extreme OCD that leads people down this sort of path typically and you'll notice people who are like this when they accuse you of being evil just for mentioning the very idea that they're overly conspiratorial.
You'll notice that if people believe in one conspiracy theory (da J00z, flat earth, etc), they'll often also believe in a bunch of other conspiracy theories that are entirely unrelated.
It gives people mental security to believe that they've "figured things out" because it's exercising a kind of control over your existence. But the reality is that we have very, very little control.
