Here’s the truth why Will Ospreay said that. Deep down he knows he won’t be a major star at WWE when everyone would expect him to be if he signed. He would be in the upper midcard at best before eventually getting released and called a flop which would damage his stock. He would get made fun of regularly online for flopping at WWE.
It’s also why he hasn’t been champion at AEW and lost to Swerve even though he was still hot. Many wanted AEW to make him champion while the iron was hot. Will however knew if he was champion people were going to expect him to save AEW and bring the ratings up which he knew he couldn’t due so he put over Swerve instead so he would get the blame. Will is an incredible wrestler he’s one of the best in the world, but he’s not a star and he knows it. Will knows he can’t handle that kind of pressure and expectations so he copes by saying things like this. Will is a coward. If will becomes a major champion at AEW or even WWE don’t be surprised he eventually confesses that he had panic attacks during his reigns due to the high expectations
