‘Expect me’ was the rallying cry of David Finlay’s 2022 G1 campaign, and with a string of wins over Juice Robinson, Shingo Takagi and Will Ospreay, he was able to back up the declaration. Yet nobody expected Finlay to be leading BULLET CLUB into 2023, nor just how effective his new vision for the faction has been. As NEVER Openweight Champion, Finlay embraces his status of being the man the group will want to beat, and with wins against every opponent that he’s faced in this tournament, the Rebel is predicting a perfect run to the quarter finals.
BULLET CLUB derbies always raise a lot of eyebrows, and with a sea change underway in the group, this Nagano meeting is a must watch. ‘Bring me gold or bring me bodies’ was the order from the Rebel after Dominion, and while his War Dogs of Connors and Moloney, Coughlin and Kidd have worked their way into title matchups, EVIL and HOUSE OF TORTURE’s recent records have left much to be desired. Will this match be crucial to the King of Darkness’ BC future?
Despite House of Torture being a sub unit to Bullet Club, there has always been a good amount of awkwardness and tension between the two even back when Jay White was in charge. Since David Finlay took the reigns, House of Torture have stayed silent on the matter and gone off to their own thing, even coming up with their own hand signs to differentiate themselves. With heated competition where pride and a main event at Wrestle Kingdom is on the line, there is a very good chance that this is the match where the two sides of modern Bullet Club split for good.
