Something I've always wondered and just remembered on a rewatch is why Jericho and JBL did this spot just a few months after the Benoit tragedy. People often say that Benoit basically caused the company to go PG, but this was just 7 months later, and the spot went on for absolutely ages. Cut forward 2 years and you have Bryan getting fired for choking Justin Roberts with his necktie.
So whats the deal? Was there something else other than the Benoit event that caused the massive shift? Or was it just a delayed response and the WWE tried fighting it for a bit before giving up?
