Your point is correct…the average audience has become 8 years older in 3 years and is now out of the demo, but enough are still in it to make sense for the network.
Wrestling in general has roughly 1.5 million fans left. Casuals weekly make up the difference in Smackdown/Raw. Some of the old heads come back to see the return of a Sting/Punk/Cena, but that’s about all that’s left. Of the 900k who are watching Dynamite, at least 500-600k are looking at Raw and the other products as well.
It’s a niche industry where the audience shrinks faster than cable cutting (and has since 2015) and has poorer people watching than actual sports. Despite being in a death spiral, the remaining fans are autists and loyal. That’s why you give them the $50 million until everyone ages out and it becomes a Star Trek convention.
