Foley is normally upfront about the handful of sketchy things he's done, he's period of promiscuity during his early indie career, his questionable relationships before meeting his wife. Only thing he doesn't seem open about is the times he probably played politics to protect his spot, which in the business is just survival.
Philosophically speaking, I think it's encouraging. Being kind is seen as a weakness, but really, if being kind makes you vulnerable, kindness is an indulgence that is only afforded to the truly strong. Rather then being kind blindly and getting taken advantage of, try to be the person strong enough who can afford to be kind all the time.
