Well, I think I'm officially about 2 months into my training now. Apparently my head coach has gone through both the NJPW dojo training as well as another one that's more heavyweight focused. I guess because he's ripped even though he's definitely not a tall guy.
Anyways I bring that up because our training has progressively tried to emulate his experience there. Tonight he brought in a tire so that we could all practice our arches by basically having one guy stand on your toes while another guy pushes down on your shoulders. I did my first dropkicks today too and learned how to get someone from a lock up down into a calf crusher. It felt really cool being able to pull something like that off multiple times when just two months ago I literally asked a classmate to show me how to do a squat on my first day as a 30 year old man.
I'm gonna ramble if I keep on going, but I just wanted to say that this whole experience has made me both a happier and healthier person. Not everyone in my life is stoked about me doing this, but some people are. I hope when you aren't browsing /pw/ that you're able to surround yourself with more people who see you happy chasing your dreams. Even if everyone just thinks I'm learning fake fighting despite the bruises I collect head to toe. If you're ever afraid of testing yourself or chasing some wild life goal, prove that you can't do it before you make that decision. I'm glad I made myself prove it, because it turns out I can do some cool shit when I push myself.
