Phil's signing did huge amounts of damage to AEW and any short-term boon he might bought was swiftly undone by his destructive tendencies, which were enabled by Tony Khan. A lot of homegrown talent was fed to Phil and the way he was booked (like some big babyface, living legend, who is so above the rest of the puny roster) did no one any favours. Hangman, MJF, Darby, Wardlow, Kingston, Team Taz, Starks, Joe - nobody left a feud with Phil looking better and often they looked worse. The fact that Phil was doing everything he claimed he hated only exposed him as the massive hypocritic his detractors claimed he was.
