Mayu threw out the first pitch for the Yokohama DeNA Baystars in May. They had a fairly mediocre season playing .500 ball. And despite being total underdogs they made it to the playoffs and eventually faced the dominant Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks in Japan's World Series. Baystars pitchers only allowed the Hawks to score one run over 27 innings, and they won the Japan Series for the first time since 1998.
