>>8935249It's a different world in Japan. You have to keep in mind that unlike in the states where most wrestling fans are boomers, Japan is a more varied audience. NJPW has an audience of like 50% women, guys like Tanahashi, Okada, Ibushi Japanese women worship the ground they walk on. Theyre literally in tears crying at ringside trying to not scream because it's against the rules. Then you have business men attending shows after work, and lots of kids who love Naito and the juniors.
When WWE goes to Japan they don't do so well because that world doesn't translate to Jap culture like it would when it goes to Europe. Japan does appreciate when Western talent goes to Japan as an attraction however.
Inoki is pretty much the best example of a guy who just looks like a standard shitter to foreigners but to Japanese people he's incredibly charismatic.
