I've never really liked Tama Tonga, Loa, or GoD that much, but I will state this plainly: they're deserving of much more professional respect for opting to bank on themselves, trying to create and meet a ceiling for themselves as pro wrestlers that no other company could afford them. Be actually remembered for their work and art, and when all is done, should they meet these self-expectations, make more money than they would elsewhere, on things like merchandise and PPV bonuses.
Far more respectable than defeatist cowards like Okada and Ospreay who, despite their talent, chose the path of huge money and no self-improvement, no growth, no upward mobility. Stagnation and no professional drive for the larger upfront.
The wise option? Perhaps. But the one I look down upon? Absolutely. People who sign with AEW in 2024, I simply can not respect them as pro wrestlers.
