Cody's a weird one. I think he's definitely been championship material ever since he le revitalized his career, but I don't really think he's face of the company tier. He's extremely marketable and over with the kids, but he really doesn't have any qualities that could make him comparable to Hogan or Cena. No stupid catchphrases, not nearly as good of a promo as either Cena or Hogan etc.
As for the reign, only time will tell. I think it's extremely grim they're having him wrestle 48 year old AJ Styles who got pinned at WM of all people for the belt, but I guess that speaks to the grim state of modern wrestling where the only draws are the 38+ year old vets. The rivalries will really make or break this reign and they don't exactly have the time to establish a Randy Orton to his John Cena or the Randy Savage to his HH brother since Cody is already 40. Reigns was practically the perfect rival but sadly the health issues on his end mean that will never be a long time rivalry.
