And these locker rooms were intimidating as hell back in the 80's and early 90's. It looked like the common room in a maximum security prison. A bunch of big shirtless men, chain smoking cigarettes, lifting weights, gambling over cards, yelling and cussing, all that stuff. But like prison, it was segregated. You stuck with your race in the locker rooms back then. The whites sat with the whites, the blacks with the blacks, and the others with the others. Didn't matter if you were a babyface, a heel, or a jobber, you stuck with your race.
But Kevin, he was the new guy, a fish. And one of those real smug, liberal jerk types. He didn't like the segregation thing at all, so he went over and sat with all the black wrestlers. When he first walked over to where the blacks were sitting, I thought he was going to end up getting his ass kicked. But all the blacks were smirking at him, leering at him almost, rubbing their moustaches and shit. We were all looking at each other like "what the fuck is going on?" And another dude was like "I think they're going to turn him out." Turning out is what they call it behind bars when black men make you their bitch. Having served time in county jail myself and having seen that shit before, my heart just sank.
So all the black wrestlers were pretending to act real nice to Kevin. And Kevin couldn't tell, he thought the blacks liked him because he was some sort of civil rights hero. And this went on for awhile. But soon the blacks were slapping Kevin's ass in the shower, squeezing his ass even. Yelling "ay, come over here and suck me off white boy." Kevin thought it was all a rib. But in the Summer of '92, Nash found out the hard way that night they weren't joking.
