"Uh, so listen, uhm, this is Dave Meltzer here coming at you live with the Wrestling Observer Newsletter hotline, and boy oh boy, do I have a story to tell you about what happened on Monday Night Raw tonight. Uhm, it was absolutely, um, shocking, I mean, like, I don't even know where to begin. So John Cena comes out, uh, and cuts this promo, and it was, uh, it was just, uh, so vile and hateful, I mean, he went off on the n-word, and it was just, uh, so uncomfortable to watch. He was talking about how they're all criminals and they smell bad and stuff, and uh, it was just, it was really hard to listen to.
I mean, uh, I've been covering wrestling for over 30 years now, and I've never seen anything like that before. It was just so out of left field, you know? Like, who expected John Cena of all people to come out and start spewing this kind of racist garbage? It was just, uh, it was mind-blowing, really. And the crowd reaction too, I mean, they were booing him out of the building, and rightfully so. Those were some awful things to say, you know?
So anyway, uhm, after the show, Vince McMahon fired Cena immediately, which is the right move in my opinion. There's no place for that kind of hate speech in wrestling or anywhere else for that matter. But uh, the damage has already been done, you know? That promo is going to live on forever on the internet, and uh, it's not going to be easy for WWE to bounce back from this one.
Uhm, but hey, that's all I got for now. This is Dave Meltzer signing off. Make sure to check out the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter for more coverage on this story. Bye for now."
