Sure he would have been a midcarder and not had a rocket strapped to him right off the bat, but the AJPW audience really doesn't like him since he came out of nowhere and went over all the local favorites. Despite being the Triple Crown he is stuck working curtain jerkers and everyone gets cheered over him.
Also the average height of guys signed in AJPW is 6'2" with a few 6'5"+ guys on the roster. As exciting as Nakajima's matches can be, it takes a lot of the heat out of it when he is competing against guys that tower over him.
