>>10584322>Note: I am aware the beginning of the attitude era is hotly debated. It's such a non-debate. You might as well measure a length of string because not even the WWE can decide the start and end of it.
>StartBefore 1996: ?
1996 King of the Ring: Austin 3:16 promo
1997 Wrestlemania: Austin-Bret double turn (WWE Network considers this the start)
1997 Survivor Series: HBK-Bret Montreal screwjob
1997 December: Vince McMahon's "Cure for the Common Show" promo (McMahon's approval for an edgier product, which is core to the era)
1998 Wrestlemania: Austin wins title, begins feud with heel Mr McMahon after
>End2001 Wrestlemania: Austin-Mr McMahon feud finally ends
2001 Invasion: early attempt at brand split although soon abandoned, but some WCW guys come in in any case
2002 March: brand split is official
2002 May: "Get the F Out" campaign, which replaces the "WWF Attitude" shirts worn by now-WWE staff at ringside and beyond
Beyond 2002: ?
So overall it's like asking how long a piece of string is. WWE has an inconsistent idea of when the Attitude Era started, because the Network even backdates it long before the "Cure for Common Show" promo.
The only "start" I'd disagree with is that WCW's NWO is somehow the start of the Attitude Era. That's just silly.
