>>11826949since we're talking about attendance records: there's been articles popping up in the last few years which present a compelling argument that WrestleMania 3 still holds the record outside of North Korea. it's definitely not 93k but you could realistically put it at around 83k. that's even higher than the 80k that WM32 was said to have actually been. "great" minds usually stink alike but even Dax goes against the Meltzer cult about WM3.
tl;dr: the 78k figure that Meltzer has reported for decades and dirtsheets hold as true comes from a 1994 statement where promoter Zane Bresloff told Meltzer that WM3's attendance was the football configuration (erroneously thought to be 72k) plus 6k floor seats. But now it's almost 30 years later and we have better sources on the Silverdome's capacity (plus autists doing shit like counting each individual seat in HD drone footage of the dome before its destruction. based but come the fuck on, dude), so we know Bresloff was mistaken; there's more like 77k seats in its football config. The Silverdome is not known to have ever had any capacity upgrades and may have actually shed up several hundred seats since 1987. if you revise Bresloff's statement with this modern knowledge, that means you can squeeze at least 83k out of WM3.
some writers go in to other figures to bump it up to 85-86k (suites or 3% comped tickets whatever idk) but I'm cool with 83k.
