It's literally that simple. The actual wrestling barely matters - it's just a vehicle to express character work and advance storylines. Now, neither AEW or WWE are doing these things well. But AEW is doing them a lot worse than WWE is. That isn't to say AEW has no good points, Timeless Toni Storm, the Cole/MJF/Roddy Strong story, and the Christianverse are all good. But the rest of the show is dragged down by tons and tons of dimeless bullshit and the unfortunate fact that Tony Khan just does not understand how to run a wrestling promotion.
