I don't like Punk, not in this or any other reality. But I can't deny he's a draw in the company, and to a casual viewing audience who knows nothing about the previous seven years of his life might think he's cool and talented. Plus if that HBO Max deal ever goes through, you've got 70+ million people exposed to AEW's existence, and some former wrestling fans not knowing of his seven years away from the business look at Punk and say, "Holy shit CM Punk's back? Damn I gotta see this." The latter is just speculation at this point due to the merger, but it's wishful thinking.
