looking back i dont get why bret was a main eventer, he was objectively mediocre at almost everything yet vince had him as a world champion from 92 to 96. ive broken his talents up into every category that can make you a top guy.
PROMOS
the good promo guys at the time, hogan+flair (gone by 93 but bret still had the belt then), macho, dibiase, jake, lawlor, shawn.
comparatively to the rest of the roster hes average at best
LOOK/GIMMICK
the best look/gimmick guys at the time: razor, undertaker, macho, dibiase.
once again he is pretty average here compared to the roster, not bad but more of a midcard guy
PHYSIQUE
the physical beasts at the time: hogan+warrior (gone by 93 but bret still had the belt then), luger, sid, martel, bulldog, warlord etc.
bret had a pretty average physique and was a 5'11 manlet
CHARISMA
the most charismatic guys at the time: hogan/flair/warrior (gone by 93 but bret still had the belt then), shawn, macho, martel.
he had some charisma, mainly from his entrance, but once again id say he was middle of the pack
INTIMIDATION FACTOR
the scariest dudes at the time: undertaker, yokozuna, sid, vader, diesel.
bret wasnt a monster/otherworldly being/giant, so nothing here. most werent of course but its a niche way to get pushed.
WORKRATE
this is the one thing he was good at, but bear in mind vince doesnt give a fuck about this especially in the 90s. he booked guys like yokozuna and andre in the main event, and they cant even move, alongside 90s carder and diesel who could barely wrestle
