>>7943834I stopped watching wrestling in 2001, and the difference then and now is night and day. As far as WWE is concerned, there aren't true stars anymore. Rock did his thing and moved to greener pastures to the point where Vince made it so that no one else is allowed to shine the way the Rock did and break out to Hollywood and become an actual icon. You're not supposed to script wrestling matches, you let the wrestlers do their thing. If they're shit, the crowd will tell you that.
The crowds nowadays are people who don't want to be entitled or toxic and it makes for a boring experience because that one person chanting boring will get raked under the coals on social media. Also holding signs and shouting is also toxic because little jimmy can't see the ring and he might hear no-no words. I think this happened right around the start of WWE going PG. Once they tried to be more open and welcoming to children and causes, it went to hell.
