Yoshihiro Takayama (56), who has been paralyzed from the neck down since 2017, was admitted to the hospital on April 12th due to aspiration pneumonia.
In 2017, Takayama sustained a spinal cord injury at a DDT Pro-Wrestling event that left him unable to move from the neck down.
According to a blog written by his wife, Takayama was unable to breathe after the injury and needed a tracheostomy to aid in his breathing.
While he has since regained the ability to breathe independently, the hole created in his throat for the tracheostomy remained and made it hard for him to speak clearly. His paralysis in the abdomen exacerbated this issue.
After several surgeries, the hole was successfully closed, but Takayama was then hospitalized for aspiration pneumonia and is currently undergoing medical treatment.
