So a couple of months ago I decided to follow my dream and put down a deposit to start wrestling school this July. I’ve been doing cardio and lifting weights since then, so I think I have a good base. I know only marks pick their gimmick before they’re trained, so I haven’t even thought about that.
I have, however, been giving a lot of thought to my moveset. Here’s what I’ve settled on:
My weak grapples are

- German Suplex
My medium grapples are

My strong grapples are
- Tiger Driver ‘91

- High Angle Backdrop

My top rope moves are
- 450 splash
- Phoenix Splash
- Shooting Star Press
I haven’t decided on my finisher (maybe High Angle Powerbomb or Burning Hammer), I’ll let coach pick that.
So my question: should I email the school before classes start and give them a list of the moves I want to learn? I’m not looking to waste time (I’m 38) so I’d like to get things going as quickly as possible so that I can start having matches. If necessary I’m willing to pay for private lessons to learn advanced moves early.
Any advice from anons who’ve trained before?
