But narcissists cannot cope with the fact that other people have different tastes and desires than them. They fixate on things they don't like because their existence impinges upon the bubble-like, carefully cultivated view of life and the world. They must be right, all the time, and in all things, otherwise their entire reality is threatened.
Hence, the obsession.
