The WWE championship has gone through more than a dozen names and more than one unification and they still consider it one lineage going back to Buddy Rogers; I don't see why making it a *world* championship and unifying it with the IC title meant they had to start back at 1 and end a lineage including Inoki, Mutoh, Hashimoto, etc.
