>>14561270>>14561289I was vaguely paying attention to the audience during the movie because in some ways, depending on your level of knowledge of the actual story, you can predict and brace yourself for when you know shit's about to go down. Audible pops for the prosthetic leg (which leads me to believe very few people to this day realize that was a real thing), typical shocks for the suicide, but nothing was tugging on the heart strings for me because I already know how this story ends.
That dock scene fucking broke me (and pretty much everyone else). Not full blown boo-hooing but streams out of both eyes and sniffles. Sure it's typical Hollywood sob story cliche stuff, but I just couldn't anticipate that scene happening and it hit badly. That's the kind of shit that would've made me kill myself if something like that ever happened to my family.
