Despy got his jaw broke in the first few minutes and after telling them he was good to go worked the next ten minutes straight with a broken jaw while Jun Kasai repeatedly hit him in the head.

It was a lot less gay than slurping down some dude's fluids.

Don't shit on TakaTaichi. Despy was as old as Waller is now but had only been wrestling a couple of years and TakaTaichi legitimized him. Waller has been at this shit for decades and has gotten nowhere, and no matter what the E does he will never get anywhere. There is a difference between a 35 year old never-will-be was and a 35 year old rookie who just needs to be noticed.

Has anyone else ever had one match go so bad that it should have been considered a career ender, but had it go over so well with the boys in booking that they begin to push you?

Despy was booked for BotSJ the week following this match, but had to drop out due to Jun Kasai shattering his jaw. Despite getting his jaw shattered in the first few minutes of the match Despy insisted that they restart the match so they could give the fans what they paid for. His actions earned the respect of the booking grandpas and instead of punishing him for getting injured working in a random indie show and missing their big tournament, they decided to reward him by giving him the push as soon as his jaw healed.
