Rating matches is just a form of recommendation. Traditionally a 4 or 5 star match meant you had to go out of your way to see it. Which use to mean taking up your entire backyard with a satellite dish, or becoming pen pals with someone on the other side of the world.
Because of high speed internet, streaming services, torrents and access to legitimate online stores, it only makes sense for standards to completely plummet off a cliff.
