>>14709539>>14709535I already told you here
>>14709053>it was a shift from writers working with wrestlers and giving notes, to writers full-on scripting them and telling them what to doCornette talks about this in shoots a lot too. Writers used to give bullet points to wrestlers and offer notes on the character, but the wrestlers were expected to flesh it out, add themselves into it, and make it their own. But that changed such that the writers (who were heavily influenced and led by Stephanie for years btw) were scripting the promos, telling the wrestlers what to say, how to act, what their gimmick must be, even down to how to dress. It became controlled and corporate, top-down instead of bottom-up. And that killed creativity and resulting in everyone sounding and acting the same.
Wrestlers lost that genuine element by which they could connect with fans beyond a mere catchphrase, but on a personal level. Now fast forward to today and tell me that isn't still the case. Look who's over now. Does anyone like, or even know, the real Jey Uso? Or is he just a catchphrase and dancing minstrel?
