While John Cena might now be a clean cut Hollywood megastar, that doesn’t mean he’s never indulged in one too many beers and done some things he’d rather forget.
Life on the road for a WWE Superstar can be incredibly difficult and beyond tiring. So naturally, sometimes wrestlers just want to blow off some steam and have some fun, but unsurprisingly, things can quickly get out of hand. During an episode of his podcast The Ryback Show, former WWE Superstar Ryback recalled one such incident featuring John Cena, Santino Marella and R-Truth.
The former Intercontinental Champion explained that the quartet went to a bowling alley after a particularly hectic day. In an effort to spice things up it was proposed that the loser from every game would have to do a round of shots. What could possibly go wrong?
Ryback admitted that while he was drunk, Cena was in a far more precarious state and decided that this was the moment to start taking his clothes off.
>“He[John Cena] was like stripping at the bowling alley and he was doing some really dumb sh*t. And I was f**ked up and I was like, ‘oh man, this guy’s out of control.’”Ryback joined WWE in 2004, competing in Tough Enough. Despite not winning the competition, the would-be star impressed WWE officials enough to earn himself a contract. After spells with developmental territories Deep South Wrestling and Ohio Valley Wrestling he moved to Florida Championship wrestling and featured on the first series of NXT. Ryback later formed part of the Nexus and established himself on the main roster.
Despite spells in and around the main event scene Ryback was released by WWE in 2016, and was widely criticised for being dangerous in the ring and a negative presence backstage.
