>[STARDOM] Maika, who won all of her league matches, reveals her commitment to her techniques: "The direct teachings of my master are important, but I also want to add my own touch"
>[Behind the scenes, on-site notes] This summer, the women's professional wrestling "Stardom" single league tournament "5STAR GP" ended with former world champion Maika winning her first championship. The next morning, she called the reporters and, while celebrating with a liter of beer, revealed her commitment to the techniques that led to her becoming the first ever undefeated champion in history.
>In this year's league matches, she got the three-count from many wrestlers with the wrist-clutch Michinoku Driver II, which she has been using since her days as world champion. She first showed this technique in her first match for the world championship against Saya Kamitani in February of this year.
>When asked how it came about, he said, "The techniques I learned directly from my master (TAKA Michinoku) are of course important, but I also wanted to add my own touch, so I came up with the clutch method." He added that he feels a sense of accomplishment, saying, "I feel like it's getting a little more intense each time I do it, and because I'm using the clutch, it's easier to lift."
>Coincidentally, in this year's final, she faced Kamitani, who used the same move for the first time, and won with the same technique. However, that wasn't the only feeling she had for the Kamitani match. During the match, she also unleashed the avalanche-style Michinoku Driver II, which she used in her fourth title defense against Megan Behn in the US tournament in April. "Kamitani's determination to choose a new path was different (from her first title defense), and I could feel her momentum. That's why I really wanted to win, so I used that technique that I've only used on Megan," she reflected.
