>>6162187I know everybody here has either memory-holed this or is just too new to remember, but literally nobody talked about demos at the start of the AEW/NXT war. The demo cope that continues to this day started two years ago when NXT beat AEW in viewership with their two part Great American Bash special. Now this Great American Bash was the absolute EPITOME of hotshot. It was the first time in months NXT had won and they wouldn't win again for quite some time. I personally would have not been bothered by it, but apparently AEW fans are just a special type of fragile. When this numbers came out, that's when they started using the demos. So they could say:
>Hey you may have beaten us a few weeks in a row, but actually this specific portion of the audience on our side was bigger, so actually we win! That Great American Bash was in July of 2020. Also in July of 2020, Chris Jericho officially adopted the "Demo God" nickname. Also in July of 2020, there was a new section added to the Wednesday Night War Wikiepedia page covering the 18-49 demographic. Previously they only had the viewership numbers, but once NXT beat AEW those couple of weeks they had to add the demos. You can check the history yourself and confirm what I am saying is indeed true.
