>>13090943One of my favourite moments in the HHH/Rock feud was Fully Loaded 99. Rock buried Haitch in his promo and it's fucking hilarious.
https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x8hi9adYou're right that Rock was originally Vince's pick, but he moved beyond that and became bigger - Haitch never did and that's the key difference. HHH never got into that next level of a superstar like Rock, or Angle, or Mick Foley, or Chris Jericho did. Putting aside my personal feelings about Paul, I think he absolutely would have absolutely been the champion, but he never would have gone to have the dominance he did - a dominance which owed entirely to nepotism. As for the Bret Hart feud, ironically, Hart's role in that feud is what Austin's role in Rock's feud would be. Hart picked Austin and elevated him. Austin picked Rock and elevated him (protecting him as well). As much as I personally enjoyed things about Rock vs. HHH feud, it never felt like it kicked up into gear. 98 was meant to HHH's big coming out moment after that Summerslam Ladder Match, but he was completely mogged by the Rock. He then got injured and in 98, Rock became the breakout star. HHH had some great moments with Rock, but nothing as legendary as Austin had with Rock, or Rock had with Mick Foley.
>>13090998That was great, but my favourite part was the Wresltemania 15 epilogue, the Backlash 99 match. Fuck, that was a great story beat and tied up so much in a super satisfying way.
