>>14053132>>14053155>>14065685I really enjoyed the match. I have some thoughts on my first ROH event, though some of the negatives are - too long (over 5hrs, really?), no wonder the crowd was so exhausted by the end - hell, I was, though the broadcast ended for me (in Bongland) at about 5am. The commentary really wasn't great, the commentators seeming to have a hard time following the action. They also stumbled a lot. That's fine for a small promotion, but it's not a good look for something like ROH.
1/2
Mariah May vs. Momo Kohgo was fucking great, nice, fast, impactful wrestling. Kyle Fletcher vs. Lee Johnson was the match of the night (I know, shocker). Fletcher is one of my favourites, and it's always a treat to watch him. The stardom match was... good, but I noticed that the girls on the outside seemed to either be waiting for their ques, missing their ques, or just wandering around. Thankfully, the actual in-ring action was mostly excellent - though there were a few instances of them having to adjust awkwardly to follow up the moves - looking at you Mina. Billie Stark vs. Queen was the second-best match of the night, mostly because of how hot the crowd was. The ring action got a little sloppy at points, but that is a minor nit-pick to the overall energy the match had. Didn't care about Dalton Castle vs. Johnny TV - but that match wasn't for me. As much as I enjoy the Bang Bang Gang and Lance Archer, there was no need for it on the show. The tag match was also there. So, let's talk about Athena vs. Shida. I wouldn't put this in Shida's top five matches, but it's a noticeable step up from what she's been subjected to lately. Athena is fantastic as ever, but this match was harmed by the crowd being so tired (again, WTF was this show over 5 hours?), and you could see that got into Shida and Athena's head, making them slow down at points. That said, Shida seemed a little more engaged because she and Athena actually got time to show case.
