You see so many professional sport stars rock that belt more than any other one, but there was something intangible about the WCW design that WWE's just couldn't replicate. WWE practically has to give their belts away, but so many football and basketball players rock the ol' Big Gold with their names prominently displayed on the nameplate. Maybe it was because they saw stars like Karl Malone and Dennis Rodman with it, smoking cigars and hanging out with Hogan with the belt on their shoulders, or maybe it was because it was designed by a silversmith in Atlanta. Big Gold stuck a chord with people as a definitive legitimate world's championship just by looking at it.
