Mashiro: It's a big dream, but I really want to go to WWE (in the US). My goal for the future is to live overseas. Before that, I have a dream of wrestling overseas and interacting with foreign wrestlers.
- When did you start having that dream?
Mashiro: I've been thinking about it since I was about 20 years old. I cried when I saw a movie with a WWE wrestler (Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock). I think it was the "Fast and Furious" series. I wanted to be someone who could inspire people, so I thought maybe I should go overseas and compete. From then on, I started watching WWE matches.
--WWE's women's wrestlers include Iyo Sky, Kairi Sane, Asuka, and Julia.
Mashiro: Isn't it amazing that there are four Japanese people doing so well? Iyo-san is great at aerial techniques, so there are a lot of things I can learn from him. He's great at matches, but he's also great at mic performances. I'm not very good at it, so I watch people like him and learn from them. I'd like to stand on that stage someday.
--Julia is also from Ice Ribbon.
Mashiro: She was so cool. I admire her Cinderella story of going from Ice Ribbon to Stardom, rising to the top, and then going to WWE. To tell the truth, I've been secretly watching Julia's matches ever since she went to Stardom.
--why
Mashiro: I really like the way she brings out the strong female side and her unyielding spirit in matches. When I was in high school, I went to the Ice Ribbon wrestling club and Julia was my teacher. I went because I liked her teaching style. But while I was still going, she moved away (to Stardom)...
--What exchanges have you had since then?
Mashiro: We went out to eat once. I retired once (in December 2022), but I met her before I retired. I remember her telling me, "It's a shame to quit. Try a little harder." When I came back (in January 2024), Julia's words still stayed with me. If I ever make it to WWE, I definitely want to fight Julia.
